I just perchased a Winchester Super X3 this morning and the action won't open. I live 3 1/2 hours from where purchased so going back there is not an option. Does anyone own one that has disassembled and can give me any advice before I do surgery one a new gun???
Thanks, Nick |

| I doubt this would prevent it from opening but I know when they ship it they put a ton of grease in it. I would clean it and try to get some of the grease out. |

The slide link is not in the correct place. Great Gun! I did the same thing with mine when I first assembled it. |
This is likely the problem, The slide link isn't positioned into recoil spring tube. It's not easy to fit it in. Take you time and use finesse and it will get in. _________________ Conserve game, hunt with a trained retriever!! |

| You are correct, the linkage came out in shipping. It was actually easy to fix once it was taken apart and examined. I shot it for the first time today and it ROCKS!! |

Yeah, every time I take mine apart it's usually a 45 second process to align the linkage. Oh well, other than that, disassembly and assembly is a breeze for an autoloader. _________________ 2009 Totals:

| The best method for assembling the SX shotguns I've found is to allow the bolt release to catch the bolt as you reassemble, and to hold the gun upright so some light shines into the receiver through the charging handle slot in the receiver. You'll be able to see the rod hanging from the back of the bolt, and a cup-shaped socket on the recoil spring assembly. Position the gun so the rod-tip is hanging above the socket, and push in the bolt release button. Everything will fall into place. This procedure made the reassembly process much easier for me. Hopefully it helps a few of you out there. |
